Constituency relationship management (CRM) is both an art and a science, and the online medium offers new techniques and tools for nonprofits of all sizes. Success requires a combination of creative messaging along with the right software tools. In this lively panel discussion, veterans of online communications will share experiences in online communications and interaction, tracking interactions and maintaining good data, and how to learn from interactions to create smarter messages that improve constituent response rates.

Michael A Stein | Donordigital

Michael Stein is a writer and veteran nonprofit management consultant who works at the intersection of technology, marketing, and fundraising. As a consultant, he assists clients with all aspects of Internet strategy, including fundraising, email messaging, and marketing. He is the author of three books and numerous articles about nonprofits and technology, including the 1997 groundbreaking book “Fundraising on the Internet: Recruiting and Renewing Donors Online.” Since then he has written about the evolution of Web-based nonprofit technology service providers, and uses of mobile phones in civil society. Michael has provided strategic support to numerous organizations on Internet strategy including The William J. Clinton Foundation, Planned Parenthood Federation of America, United Nations Food Programme, The James Irvine Foundation, Animal Legal Defense Fund, and the ACLU of Northern California. Michael’s opinion and analysis have been featured in numerous media, including The New York Times, The Chronicle of Philanthropy, National Public Radio, and Wired News. Steve Andersen | Salesforce.com Foundation
Steve Andersen leads the Salesforce.com Foundation technology team in it's efforts to help organizations use Salesforce.com in service of mission. Steve is a nationally-recognized leader in the nonprofit Salesforce.com user community. A veteran of Groundwire, NPower Seattle and several Seattle-area tech startups, Steve thinks and writes a lot about how nonprofits can achieve their missions by becoming data-driven.
Tom Subak | Planned Parenthood Federation of America
Tom is the Director of Planned Parenthood Online -- a Federation-wide initiative to define Planned Parenthood's online goals, outcomes, and strategies; provide leadership in reaching those goals; and search out and adopt the technology to do so. Prior to joining Planned Parenthood, Tom was the Founder and CEO of the e Organization -- an internet consulting group that worked exclusively with nonprofit organizations and political campaigns. The e Organization was acquired by Mindshare Interactive Campaigns at the same time that Tom joined Planned Parenthood. Tom and his wife Abby live in Boston with their two young children. Tom, and sometimes the family, splits his time between Boston and New York.
